An Artist in Ecofantasy.

Chaitra is an artist working primarily in acrylic and ink, based in Mumbai, India. Her work in ecofantasy constructs speculative worlds where hybrid forms coexist, observe, and negotiate space. Her paintings emerge through a process of layering, underpainting, and revision, gradually developing their own internal logic and narrative.

Color lies at the heart of her practice. Bold, saturated, and instinctive, it provides a counterpoint to the measured and analytical world she inhabited for more than a decade as a sustainable finance professional. Painting has become a space for exploration and wonder, allowing her to engage with environmental questions through imagination rather than policy.

Before dedicating herself to her studio practice, Chaitra worked across climate and social themes in consulting, capital markets, and philanthropy. She has delivered workshops, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and masterclasses on climate finance at international forums including the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council, Eco-Business, Responsible Investor Asia, Fair Finance Asia, the India Green Investment Forum, and Bangkok Climate Action Week. These engagements have taken place across Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Tokyo.

Today, the ecological perspective that informed her professional career continues to shape her artistic practice. Drawing from both observation and imagination, she creates visual worlds that invite viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature and the possibilities of future ecosystems.
